Why are rooms checked on cleanliness?

Inspecting the cleanliness of each room on a regular basis is an effective way to encourage students to keep their room clean and keep the whole dormitory a nice living environment.

Can promotional materials or ads be put on the notice board in the dormitory?

No. Promotional materials or ads have to be posted in the designated places. Only after permission of the Department of Dormitory Management, can notices or other materials be posted on the notice board.

What to do when you have lost your campus card?

You will get a campus card when you enroll. This card allows you to enter and leave the dormitory and to make use of the library. Please report to the Department of Student Affairs when you have lost your campus card. Take your student card with you.

What to do in case something is missing from your room?

Please keep your valuables in a safe spot. In case something is missing from your room, contact the staff of the Department of Dormitory Management immediately. The whole dormitory is equipped with cameras, so anybody going into your room will be on tape.

What to do in case of fire?

Please make yourself familiar with the fire escape and fire extinguishers in your building. In case of a fire, In case of fire, take the fire escape and cover your nose and mouth with a wet towel in case there is a lot of smoke. Once you are out of the building, alarm other students, dial 119 and the staff of the office. When there is a small fire, use the fire extinguishers to put it out.

Why can’t you use high-power electrical appliances in the room?

High-power electric appliances (such as electric cookers, electric blankets, alcohol, alcohol heaters, gas stove, etc.) may cause a fire as there are many students living in each dormitory the circuit has a big burden. So storing or using high-power electric appliances is not allowed.

What to do when you get sick overnight?

In case of minor illness, ask a senior student to take you to the hospital. In case of serious illness, please inform the staff on duty as soon as possible.

What to do when there is a power cut in your room?

Please contact the service room immediately if this occurs during daytime. If the power is cut after office hours, please contact the security personnel in the duty room or any maintenance staff.

What to do in case you locked yourself out of your room?

Please got to the service room and a spare key will be given to you, after proof has been provided that you actually live in that room. Spare keys have to be returned immediately after the door has been opened.

How to report a defect in your room?

Please fill in the form ‘Request for Repair’ at the service room of your dormitory or log on the website of the College of International Education to fill in the request online. Service personnel will come to your room in 24 hours for maintenance or repair. Students are requested to pay for the repairing materials at the service room, in case the damage was caused on purpose or through negligence or if the repair falls into the category of paid items.)

How to pay for the electricity in the room?

The dormitories have water and electricity 27/7. In case of a power or water cut, the Department of Dormitory Management will notify in advance. Students have to pre-pay for the electricity in their room, which can be done in the service room of the dormitory. The electricity will be cut off automatically if the pre-paid electricity units are consumed. One electricity unit costs 0.5 RMB/KW. In every corridor there are electricity meters which show how many electricity units are left for your room. Please keep an eye on these, as there are designated times when electricity can be paid for:   Office time for electricity pre-payment   Dormitory A: Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons at service room. Dormitory B and C: Tuesdays and Thursdays (the whole day) at service room. Dormitory D and E: Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings at service room.  

What shall new students pay special attention to?

(1) Check whether all the articles in the room are in place and in good condition and fill in the “List of Room Items” when moving in. Any problems with these items are to be reported to the Department of Dormitory Management within two days after moving in. If you don’t report defects in time, all the items will be considered as in good condition. In case of problems or questions, please the staff at the service room or the Department of Dormitory Management.   

(2) It is advised not to keep large amounts of cash in your room. Keep your bank book or bank card and passport in a separate place.   

(3) New students who are not familiar with everybody of the dormitory staff yet, are asked to be cautious about people wanting to enter their room. In case of doubt, do not hesitate to ask people who want to enter your room for a proof they are university staff.

(4) Lock the door and windows when leaving your room and check whether the door or windows are locked before going to sleep. If you find anything or anybody suspicious in the dormitory, please contact the Department of Dormitory Management or the security personnel on the first floor (Tel: 4672117).

How are rooms allocated to international students? How do you apply for room change?

The accommodation of all international students is arranged by the Department of Dormitory Management and the Department of International Students Affairs. Rooms cannot be changed without permission of these departments once the room allocation has been made.

Who runs the dormitories and what are their responsibilities?

The following staff is providing services to international students: 1. The staff of the Department of Dormitory Management, who is mainly responsible for the daily management of each dormitory building. The y can assist students with problems of any kind in the dormitory 2. Staff in the duty rooms, who are responsible for the safety and security in each building; 3, Servicemen, who are responsible for the maintenance and repair of the dormitory facilities; 4, Cleaning personnel, who are responsible for cleaning work inside the dormitories 5, Utility personnel, who is responsible for the water and electricity management of each building.

What facilities are there in the dormitories?

There are three types of rooms—double-bed rooms, three-bed rooms and single-bed rooms in these dormitories. The rooms are equipped with single beds, basic furniture like a desk, a chair and a wardrobe, an air-conditioner, a water heater (in some rooms) and internet connection. In each building, there are duty rooms, service rooms, bulletin boards, fire extinguishers, etc.

How long will it take from the application submitted to the admission notice received?

Around 12 days. After receiving the required documents and fees, we’ll have the JW202 issued. JW202 will get approved after at least 7 working days. And then JW202 and admission notice are posted to the applicant, with the tracking number informed to the applicant. The applicant can receive the parcel in 5 working days.

Can I get scholarship if I study at your university?

Yes! You can! JZMU offer Chinese Government Scholarship and University Scholarship.   Chinese Government Scholarship: JZMU has obtained the enrollment qualification of the Chinese Government Scholarship (CGS), supported by the State Ministry of Education. JZMU offers 21 undergraduate and 49 postgraduate programs.The China Scholarship Council (CSC) provides those students with a full scholarship, including tuition fee, accommodation fee, coverage of daily expenses and insurance fee.   University Scholarship: 2500 RMB- 6500 RMB/ YEAR for the top students of each grade of undergraduate students. 16000/YEAR for the top students of each grade for post-graduate students.

May I know the ranking of your university among all the Chinese medical universities?

Jinzhou Medical University (JZMU) is one of the top 50 public medical universities and is among those universities that are allowed to offer the program of MBBS in English medium by the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China.

When are you on holidays?

May Day Holiday: usually in the first week of May Summer Holiday: from the middle of July till the end of August National Day Holiday: usually in the first week of October Winter Holiday: from the middle of January till the end of February (But during holidays, there will be one or two staffs on duty everyday).

How far is your city to Beijing?

It’s around 499 kilometers from Jinzhou to Beijing, 3.5 hours by express train.

Do you offer pickup service for the freshman?

Yes, we offer pickup service for the freshman. But students should pay the corresponding cost, including traffic, food etc.

What facilities are there in the apartments?

We offer accommodation to all international students upon their demand. Our accommodation consists of five dorms, 514 rooms. Our security service provides 24 hours support to provide a safe and secure residential and studying environments. Dorm A Male and Female dorm, consists of 35 rooms, two public kitchens and two laundry rooms.There are two types of rooms—double-bed rooms and three-bed rooms. The rooms are equipped with single beds, basic furniture like a desk, a chair and a wardrobe, an air-conditioner, a water heater and internet connection. In each building, there are duty rooms, service rooms, bulletin boards, fire extinguishers, etc. Dorm B Male and Female dorm, consists of 85 rooms, 4 public kitchens, 5 public bathrooms, 5 laundries and 5 washrooms. There are two types of rooms—double-bed rooms and single-bed rooms. The rooms are equipped with single beds, basic furniture like a desk, a chair and a wardrobe, an air-conditioner, a water heater and internet connection. Dorm C Male and Female dorm , consists of 83 rooms, 5 public kitchens, 5 public bathrooms, 5 laundries and 11 washrooms.There are two types of rooms—double-bed rooms and single-bed rooms. The rooms are equipped with single beds, basic furniture like a desk, a chair and a wardrobe, an air-conditioner and internet connection. Dorm D Male and Female dorm , consists of 173 rooms, 5 public kitchens, 8 public bathrooms, 5 dining rooms and 5 laundries. There are three types of rooms—double-bed rooms, three-bed rooms and single-bed rooms. The rooms are equipped with single beds, basic furniture like a desk, a chair and a wardrobe, an air-conditioner, a water heater (in some rooms) and internet connection. Dorm E Male and Female dorm ,consists of 48 rooms, 4 public kitchens, 4 public bathrooms, 4 wash rooms, 4 toilet and 2 laundries.There are three-bed rooms. The rooms are equipped with single beds, basic furniture like a desk, a chair and a wardrobe, an air-conditioner and internet connection.

Who run the apartments? What are their responsibilities?

The apartments are homes for international students. The following staff will provide services to international students in the daily life:

  1. staff of Office of International Students’ Apartment Administration, who is mainly responsible for the daily management of each apartment building. You may inquire them about anything in life;
  2. guards at duty room, who are responsible for safety and security work in each  building; 3. servicemen, who are responsible for maintenance and repair of apartment facilities;
  3. cleaners who do the cleaning work inside apartments;
  4. 5. utility staff who is  responsible for water and electricity management of each building.
